As I argued yesterday in a post entitled “Mobile Learning Explained Visually“, the impact of emerging technologies is transforming those key traditional conceptions that have accompanied education since the dawn of time. In the span of one single decade, we witnessed the birth of dozens of new learning theories (some of which are old wine in new bottles) and the emergence of new forms of learning that are grounded in the social capital afforded by the net. With these new changes comes a new conceptualization of teaching methodologies, ones that can better live up to the expectations of today’s learners. One of the areas where you can really notice the transformative impact of technology on education is in the new learning environments that are being designed or reshaped to accommodate the ethos of the emerging technologies.
